Release of the ADN Junior Champion Magazine, Volume 4: Children and Youths’ Experiences of Disasters in Taiwan

The Avoidable Deaths Network (ADN) is launching Junior Champion Magazine  Volume 4, featuring stories from Taiwanese youth on earthquakes. The event will include the magazine team and young authors  sharing their experiences and the importance of youth voices in disaster risk  reduction.

CHAIR

Dr. Hideyuki Shiroshita

As the Founding President of the ADN, Hideyuki is an Associate Professor at the Graduate School and Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences, Kansai University in Japan. Currently, he is the chairperson of the Osaka Prefectural committee for promoting safety and disaster education.

GUEST EDITOR

Dr Yitzun Lin

Dr Yi-Tzu Lin is currently an Assistant Professor at the Center for General EducationShe holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and a Master’s degree in Anthropology from Taiwan, National Chi Nan University. Her areas of expertise include disaster prevention education, field surveys, and community disaster prevention. 

SPEAKERS

Miss Anushka Konar

Anushka Konar is a B.Tech Biotechnology undergraduate at the Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, India. With a strong foundation in science and communication, she brings a unique blend of technical knowledge and creative vision to her roles. As the Co-Editor of Junior Champions Magazine, Anushka plays a key role in shaping youth voices and narratives.

Miss Prarthona Datta

Prarthona Datta is a second-generation racialized youth studying at the University of Calgary in Calgary,a. Her areas of interest include youth actions to build climate change resilience, children’s land-based learning activities, youth-led cross-cultural community gardens, and land-based arts activities (dance, music, and art). 

Mr. Arkoneil Ghosh

Arkoneil Ghosh, currently studying at Neev Academy in Bangalore, boast proficient in English, Spanish, Hindi, Bengali, and Chinese, with basic skills in Japanese. Passionate about coding, he works on projects educating underprivileged children in Dharavi, Mumbai. Since 2020, he has been a Junior Champion with ADN, raising awareness about preventable deaths.
