Release of the ADN Junior Champion Magazine, Volume 5: Children and Youths’ Experiences of Disasters in Pakistan

The Avoidable Deaths Network (ADN) is launching Junior Champion Magazine  Volume 5, featuring stories from Pakistanese youth on disasters. The event will include the magazine team and young authors  sharing their experiences and the importance of youth voices in disaster risk  reduction.

CHAIR

Dr Hideyuki Shiroshita

As the Founding President of the ADN, Hideyuki is an Associate Professor at the Graduate School and Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences, Kansai University in Japan. Currently, he is the chairperson of the Osaka Prefectural committee for promoting safety and disaster education.

GUEST EDITORS

Ms Tahira Khan

Ms Tahira Khan is a seasoned emergency management professional currently serving as District Emergency Officer in Pakistan. With dual Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Chemistry, she has led disaster response operations, community-based resilience initiatives, and international training programs.

Mr Muhammad Asad Tahir

Mr Asad is the founder president of the Sustainable Leadership forum. He is a dynamic civil servant with over 20 years of experience in various public and private sector organizations, including international NGOs and donors. Holding an LLB and a Master’s in English Literature, he is an internationally certified facilitator and prolific writer, he regularly contributes to national newspapers and has authored two bestselling books

SPEAKERS

Miss Anushka Konar

Anushka Konar is a B.Tech Biotechnology undergraduate at the Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, India. With a strong foundation in science and communication, she brings a unique blend of technical knowledge and creative vision to her roles. As the Co-Editor of Junior Champions Magazine, Anushka plays a key role in shaping youth voices and narratives.

Master Arkoneil Ghosh

Currently pursuing his IB Diploma in an International School in Mumbai, Arkoneil is a multilingual youth leader fluent in English, Spanish, Hindi, Bengali, and Chinese, with additional skills in Japanese. A passionate coder, he has contributed to education projects for underprivileged children in Dharavi, Mumbai. Since 2020, he has been an active ADN Junior Champion, raising awareness on preventable deaths, and is the Founding Editor of the Junior Champion Magazine
