ADN Provides Essential Relief to 200 Flood-Affected Children in Bangladesh to Help Communities Rebuild


2 December 2024: The Avoidable Deaths Network (ADN) supported flood-affected communities in Feni, Bangladesh, through a relief effort led by Dr. Fatima Akter, ADN Bangladesh Chapter host, alongside ADN Future Leaders Sadia Afrin Sayfa Negaban and Mohammad Fahimul Islam. This initiative, funded by £750 raised by Prof. Nibedita Ray-Bennett via GoFundMe, provided essential aid, including stationery, school supplies for 200 children, sanitary napkins for girls, and medical supplies like antifungal medicine and multivitamins. Appeal for Anti-Snake Venom Manufacturing Units in West Bengal
14 July 2024: Dr Nibedita Ray-Bennett, facilitated by the ADN Regional Coordinator, Mr. Snehendu Koner, submitted a letter to the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Ms. Mamata Banerjee with an appeal to consider taking the necessary steps to establish manufacturing units for anti-snake venom (AVS) and increase access to this standard medical care so that lives can be saved in the state of West Bengal.
This monsoon season has recorded a high number of snakebites in West Bengal.
