Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments

United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction’s Voluntary Commitments for the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030

Description

On 22 November 2021, Dr. Nibedita Ray-Bennett received an invitation from Dr. Yuki Matsuoka, Head, United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Office in Japan, to showcase ADN at the Voluntary Commitments (VC) platform for the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.

The VC platform provides an opportunity to:

  • Inform the public about the ongoing work;
  • Facilitate learning and collaboration by knowing who is doing what and where; and
  • Motivate others, share updates and highlight good practices related to Sendai Framework’s seven global targets.

In order to align with the VC Platform Commitments, the existing ADN activities were updated on 1 January 2022. The updated activities can be found in the Annual Report 2021 – 2022.

The ADN’s VC Commitments are for the Sendai Framework’s Targets A and B at the interface with four Sustainable Development Goals (3, 11, 13, 17).

The details of ADN’s VC description, progress reports and deliverables, and organisations and focal points can be accessed on the VC Platform through this link.

The  ADN’s VCs were acknowledged in the latest report of UNDRR:
UNDRR (2022) Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments Synthesis and Analysis Report. Available online on the UNDRR website.
(ADN is cited p. 98/e-page 113).
